| Sermig
– an acronym for the Young People’s Missionary Service
– was established to make a dream come true: to eliminate
hunger through justice and development. The underlying principle
is to consider the world as our home and all men as members of a
single human family.
The method is experiencing solidarity directly with the poor, providing
down-to-earth answers.
Giving some of our assets, our ability, our time and our resources
is the way to finance development projects and peace-oriented actions.
To manage these projects Sermig set up the International Cooperative
for Development (C.I.S.) to support or to create communities with
a solid spiritual base that coordinate projects on site, getting
the local population involved.
A group of experts from different technological areas (the Re.Te
group – which supplies technological expertise) identifies
and creates appropriate solutions to support the projects. In 38
years, we have completed more than 1,500 humanitarian actions and
development projects in 82 countries around the world and more than
100 peace actions in nations at war.
